What Type of Successor Is President Obama Looking For? Author Ed Klein Says It's Probably Not Hillary Clinton

"Obama was looking for, as Clinton put it, a 'Mini-Me.'"

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton may not have the full backing of President Barack Obama if she chooses to run for president in 2016, author Ed Klein said Friday on TheBlaze TV's Dana.

The author of "Blood Feud: The Clintons vs. the Obamas," Klein said that Bill Clinton and Barack Obama "struck a deal" during a golf game in 2011 "in which Bill Clinton promised to back Obama, if, in turn, Obama would come out for Hillary in 2016."

"Bill made good on the deal," Klein said. "He gave that speech that we all remember at the Democratic National Convention. ... And then after he got elected, Barack Obama -- in typical fashion, I must say -- reneged on the deal."

Klein said several sources have told him that Obama told Clinton: "I'm not sure who I'm going to support in 2016."

But Clinton is under the impression that Obama is looking for a "Mini-Me" of himself, Klein added.

"Bill Clinton recently had a party at Whitehaven, which is his mansion in Washington, D.C.," Klein began. "And during that party, he said that he had been checking with state committee chairmen about who was going to back whom in 2016."

At the party, Klein said Clinton picked up the idea that "Obama was looking for, as Clinton put it, a 'Mini-Me.' ... Somebody like a clone who, like Obama, would come out of nowhere and challenge Hillary and beat her in 2016."
