Sickening Discovery Found Inside a Grocery Bag Buried Behind North Carolina Home
June 30, 2014
Unthinkable.
Police are investigating a likely homicide after a newborn baby girl was found inside a grocery bag buried in the backyard of a home near Louisburg, North Carolina, on Sunday.
Detectives believe that a teenage mother gave birth to the 8.5-pound baby girl Sunday inside her home, which belongs to her parents. The teen’s parents were the ones who made the grisly discovery and contacted the police.
Franklin County Sheriff Jerry Jones told WRAL-TV that a preliminary report from the medical examiner’s office suggests the baby was born healthy.
The teen mom was reportedly in the hospital on Monday evening. Jones said investigators are working with the Franklin County District Attorney’s Office to determine how to proceed in the case.
Both the mother and father of the baby are juveniles.
