What This 4-Year-Old Asked Another Customer That His Mom Says Got Him Banned From a Doughnut Shop

Inquisitive, young children might bravely ask questions that no adult would ever dream of, and they're usually forgiven because of their innocent intentions. The mom of a Connecticut 4-year-old says he got himself banned from a doughnut shop for something he asked another patron.

His question? Justin Otero asked a woman at the Doughnut Inn in Monroe, Connecticut, if she was carrying a baby. It's a question most adults would not ask a stranger unless they were absolutely sure of the answer, due to sensitivities of the woman not being pregnant.

"It looked like she was pregnant and I asked her if she was pregnant," the boy told WFSB-TV.

In this case, the woman was not expecting a child.

"My response was ‘Oh my goodness, I'm so embarrassed, I'm so sorry'," Rebecca Denham told WFSB of the incident that occurred over the weekend, adding that her son apologized as well.

She said the woman was forgiving of the little boy's mistake, but the Doughnut Inn staff apparently wasn't so understanding.

"We were screamed at in front of the door, ‘he's not allowed in here, he's rude,'" Denham told the news station of what reportedly happened when she and her son returned to the shop earlier this week for another treat.

"She said, 'he's not allowed in here,' and I looked around, and said, 'him?' and she said 'yeah, he's rude'," Denham added.

Neither the manager nor the store's owner would comment on the incident to WFSB.

"Some people, unfortunately are quick to pass judgment, and therefore we will take our money and business elsewhere," Denham said.
