A Neighbor Went to Help This Man After His House Was Hit by a Tornado. What Was Found in the Rubble Got Him Arrested.

After a tornado hit Jerrod Christian's home in Sullivan County, Tennessee, Sunday night, neighbors showed up to help. But what they found landed the 26-year-old in jail.

According to WJHL-TV, the neighbor saw an air compressor on Christian's property that was stolen from his own barn the day before. When Kingsport police were called to investigate further, they found other stolen items totaling more than $1,000.

Christian was not at home at the time of the tornado. According to Kingsport police, he was in jail serving time for charges from an earlier incident. He now faces new charges of burglary and theft of property.

"Basically the end result was we were able to solve two burglaries out of this damage from the tornado," Thomas Patton with the Kingsport Police Department told WCYB-TV.

The previous incident involved Christian's girlfriend alleging he had stolen her van. While speaking with officers, Christian showed up in the van, becoming "extremely belligerent and disruptive" during questioning. At this point, Christian was arrested for disorderly conduct, but on his way to jail he threatened to assault the officer, the officer's mother and his children.
