Beck Reveals the 'Unheard of' Amount of People Who Have Sent Protest Messages Regarding Comcast, Time Warner Merger

"We just want to facilitate and ask you this question: Are your values and your principles being served on this?"

Glenn Beck on Wednesday said TheBlaze TV originally hoped to have 10,000 people sign a submission to the FCC protesting the Comcast merger with Time Warner Cable. And already, the response has been over double that.

Beck says the merger will make it much more difficult to get the network picked up, but far more importantly, it will lead to "less choice, less competition and higher cable bills."

"Having 10,000 names on an FCC public file is unheard of," Beck said. "We already have 22,000 names. ... I said yesterday, maybe we should try for 50,000. I don't know. We've got two weeks to put these names together. Let's try for 100,000. I don't know if we can get them, but let's try for 100,000. Let's give them 10 times the amount and see if the FCC listens to the public anymore."

Beck said that by filling out the form at GetTheBlaze.com, you aren't putting your name on some mailing list. You are putting your name on a "government document, and it goes into the record on the Comcast/Time Warner merger."

"We just want to facilitate and ask you this question: Are your values and your principles being served on this?" Beck asked.

Beck said Comcast is trying to jam the merger "down everybody's throat," and they are not afraid of the repercussions because of their close connections with the White House.

"Comcast has two really important Obama cronies working to get the merger approved. First is CEO Brian Roberts. He's an Obama golfing buddy whose political giving is 90% Democrat. ... Overseeing this merger is the executive vice president of Comcast. His name is David Cohen. He's also, surprisingly, another major Democratic fundraiser."

From Capital Flows, a Forbes contributor:

Cohen and his wife have given upwards of $500K to Obama while raising another $2.2 million. During a Democrat fundraiser at Cohen’s house, President Obama quipped, “I have been here so much the only thing I haven’t done in this house is have Seder.”

Obama once publicly stated, “we’re gonna punish our enemies and … reward our friends.” Executive Branch action on the Comcast/Time Warner deal will demonstrate if this caveat applies to merger policy...

"Could I ask, is this merger a punishing of the enemies or a rewarding of the friends, because it certainly is not in the public interest," Beck said. "When Comcast and Time Warner can put on Al Jazeera, a channel that nobody wants, that nobody is watching, one that is aiding and abetting the enemies of the United States of America, and then block a cable channel like TheBlaze that people by the thousands have called [for], what's happening here?"

"I just want you to know, forget about TheBlaze," Beck said. "If Time Warner and Comcast merge, if have you any doubt about your service as it is today, and your bill as it is today, I guarantee, when you double the size of this monolith, it's only going to get worse. You ask the FCC, is this in our interest or in the interest of some political cronies? If you would like to join us on this campaign, we'd sure like to have your support.
