Assemblyman and bikers set to protest Mexican president's luncheon with California Gov. Brown

“You care more about the comfort of those who have illegally entered our country than you do for your own countrymen.”

Tuesday will be day 148 of Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi's imprisonment in Mexico. Tuesday is also the day that Mexico's president, Enrique Nieto, addresses the California legislature and meets with Governor Jerry Brown.

According to one elected official who will not be attending the event and the luncheon honoring Nieto, the two leaders and the legislature are reportedly not going to be talking about Tahmooressi. Instead, they will discuss trade, immigration and climate change.

Assemblyman Tim Donnelly talked about the upcoming event and told TheBlaze Radio's Mike Opelka why he won't be attending.

Donnelly's anger started a month ago when Governor Brown and a contingent of elected state officials visited Mexico and did not bring up Tahmooressi.

Fast forward to this week and the assemblyman became even more incensed when he received this invitation from Governor Brown.

After reading the invitation, the assemblyman penned a letter to the governor, protesting this luncheon and letting Brown know that he will not be attending.

Instead of sitting inside the historic Leland Stanford Mansion, Donnelly told TheBlaze, he will be outside, holding a rally on behalf of Sgt. Tahmooressi.

Donnelly's letter closes by letting the governor know exactly how he feels about the snub of Tahmooressi.

“I know that my absence may distress you, but it may comfort you to know that I’ll be standing outside leading a protest, doing the job you should have done as the highest elected official in California: demanding the release of one of our own, our Marine, Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi.”

The group, "2Million Bikers To D.C." has reportedly agreed to join the event.

Listen to Tim Donnelly explain the protest. His interview starts at the 20:00 mark of the radio show.
