U.S. Military Conducts Operation Against Al Qaeda-Linked Group in Somalia

United States military forces conducted an operation Monday against the Al Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab network in Somalia, CNN reported, citing Pentagon press secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby.

"We are assessing the results of the operation and will provide additional information as and when appropriate," Kirby told CNN.

No other information was immediately available.

The U.S. designated Al-Shabaab as a foreign terrorist organization in March 2008, CNN added.
