Map Shows the Most Expensive Home in Each State That's for Sale Right Now

"These homes may be way out of reach for most of us."

Of all the homes around the country that have a for sale sign staked in their front yards, you'd have to be ready to fork over millions if you wanted to buy in to the most expensive that the real estate market currently has to offer.

The real estate trends blog Movoto pulled together the most expensive homes on the market in each state onto one map.

The one with the highest price tag would settle you in Water Mill, New York, and would set you back $69 million.

"This early 10th century New York home which overlooks Mecox Bay has been updated, refurbished, and loved into a jaw-dropping spectacle over the years," Movoto wrote of the mansion. "Spiral staircases, sweeping dining rooms, lake-like pools, and more make this a stunning home. Plus, a carriage house and huge mansion bedrooms don’t exactly take away from the beauty."

The East Coast lays claim to several other homes in the top 10 costliest list, but residences in Florida, Georgia, California, Arizona, Texas and Colorado are represented as well.

The least pricey of the most expensive homes in the country, located in Fargo, North Dakota, still costs $2.8 million.

"These homes may be way out of reach for most of us, but it’s nice to imagine what it might be like to come home to any of these places someday," Movoto wrote.
