Video Appears to Show Military Jet Crash in Libyan City, Erupt in Fireball

New video posted online Tuesday appears to show the moment a military jet crashed in a Libyan city, killing the pilot and others.

Footage depicts the plane flying overhead a man recording before it suddenly dives toward the ground and crashes in a fireball. The man filming is then heard screaming.

According to the Libya Herald, the jet crashed during a memorial service for another pilot who died when his plane crashed last week.

Authorities blamed the crash on a technical issue, but Libyan fighters with Ansar Al-Sharia claimed they had shot the plane down, the Herald reported.

Footage of the incident was first posted to Facebook before it made its way onto YouTube.
