Billboard's Message About Homosexuality and Sin That's Creating a Stir

"It's pretty cruel to single out one group of sinners."

A billboard posted in Portland, Tennessee, is sparking a fair bit of debate with its controversial message about homosexuality.

The text, which reads "Love the Sinner, Hate the Sin," also features Leviticus 18:22, a Bible verses that touches upon the contentious subject matter.

"You shall not lie with a man as with a woman it is an abomination," the lefthand side of the billboard reads, according to WZTZ-TV.

Locals have had a variety of reactions to the billboard.

"I was infuriated. It's pretty cruel to single out one group of sinners," Ashley Alderson told WZTZ-TV. "I wouldn't want my sins posted on a billboard. That's the way I look at it."

Others, though, said that the billboard is a free speech issue, with some residents arguing that the message shows love and concern for the population it's targeting.

It's not entirely clear who posted it, though the outlet described those placing the billboard as "concerned Christians."
