While the Pentagon confirmed the ongoing strikes, the military said no further information would be provided until it is "operationally appropriate."

CNN reported that an official said the new airstrikes were targeting oil installations.
The U.S. military on Monday began striking Islamic State targets in Syria using a “mix of fighters, bombers and Tomahawk missiles."
