Suspect With 22-Page Arrest Record Commits Violent Carjacking

Shocking new surveillance video shows an alleged carjacking that took place Wednesday at the J.W. Marriott Marquis Hotel in Miami. Miami police said they knew from the start who was responsible.

The suspect, 50-year-old Alberto Ruiz, is no stranger to police. He has an arrest record that's 22 pages long and dates all the way back to 1983. His first recorded arrest happened when he was just 19-years-old.

Ruiz's record includes alleged homicide, drug possession, grand larceny, and grand theft.

While police said they thought Ruiz was responsible from the start, they didn't arrest him until 10 hours after the occurrence. They had to use a stun gun before they arrested finally arrested him inside a hotel room in the Miami neighborhood of Little Havana.

Ruiz has been charged with carjacking, attempted murder, and aggravated battery, as the Miami Herald reported.
