EUREKA, Calif. (TheBlaze/AP) — Cyle Warren Abbott Jr. said he needed to leave town for a fresh start — but he also needed some cash before departing.
So the 23-year-old entered a gas station and demanded money, police said. The gas station clerk believed Abbott was carrying a semi-automatic handgun, police added.
The clerk gave Abbott some cash, and before leaving the station Abbott also took two bottles of beer.
But three hours later Abbott returned, giving back most of the cash and saying he was sorry, Eureka Police Sgt. Steve Watson said Sunday.
Abbott's weapon turned out to be a BB gun, which officers haven't found.
Abbott was booked into jail on $50,000 bail.
