Fox News Producer Confronts NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio in Exchange That Only Ends After Security Arrives

"What’s the problem?”

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio found himself in a testy exchange with a Fox News correspondent at a Thursday press conference — and it only ended after security stepped into the scene.

The mayor was taking questions when "O'Reilly Factor" producer Jesse Watters confronted him over his apparent refusal to appear on the popular cable news program.

“Mr. Mayor, Bill O’Reilly has a question for you,” Watters said.

“OK, are you his emissary?” de Blasio asked.

“Yes I am,” Watters quipped back. “You don’t know ‘Wattersworld?’"

“Again, please?” de Blasio said, seemingly puzzled.

“I’m Watters and this is my world right here,” Watters echoed.

The mayor then urged the reporter to continue with his question.

"We’ve been trying to book you on the show for weeks and your staff hasn’t been very respectful towards us,” Watters said.

“I’m sure they’re very respectful,” de Blasio responded.

“Actually not,” Watters countered.

“I’m sure they are,” de Blasio insisted.

“We’re just trying to get to know you better," Watters said. "What’s the problem?”

De Blasio said that his staff would follow up with the Fox News request. However, that didn't quell Watters' concern.

“But they haven’t been following up and that’s why I’m here,” Watters said.

De Blasio then attempted to move on to another reporter's question. Watters interjected.

“You haven’t responded. Will you do the show?” he asked.

De Blasio didn't answer, but a member of his security detail approached Watters and ushered him out of the press conference.

One of the mayor's representative's later posted an email exchange online indicating that they had responded to, but declined, the Fox News invitation earlier this week.
