Caught on Video: The First Moments After the Fatal NYPD Officer Shootings

New video shows the immediate aftermath of Saturday's execution-style killings of two New York City police officers, showing the desperate rush to evacuate them for treatment.

The footage, which appears to have been shot from several stories up, shows emergency vehicles on the scene beside the officers' patrol car in which they were shot. Emergency workers swarm the car to get the victims onto stretchers and into the backs of the ambulances.

The intersection a few feet from the patrol car is completely blocked by about a half a dozen other police vehicles. At least a dozen NYPD officers surround the car to assist with getting the second officer out and into the second ambulance. One officer clears the street for the vehicles to leave as the rest of the officers disperse in their patrol cars and motorcycle.

There is no audio available with the video, but the sense of desperation is palpable in the swiftness of everyone's actions.

Editor's note — footage may be disturbing to some:

Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos were both pronounced dead after they were ambushed by Ismaaiyl Brinsley, who had vowed to put "wings on pigs" after grand juries decided not to indict the police officers in the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner. Brinsley committed suicide in a nearby subway station after the shootings.
