This Has to Be One of the Most Heartbreaking Ways to Lose a Basketball Game

"I don't know how to explain it, but I was just happy."

With three seconds left, the Florida Gators were ready to make a stand against their in-state rivals, Florida State, on Tuesday night. The score was tied and Florida State had the ball near their basket. But the shooter took a three-pointer that was short. Overtime, right?

Wrong. Very wrong. Heartbreakingly wrong. For Florida, that is.

See, when Florida State's Devon Bookert missed the shot, Florida's Jacob Kurtz was below the basket. Even though Bookert missed, Kurtz ended up tipping the ball in...to his own basket. With 0.4 seconds left. It counted, and gave Florida State a two-point win over their rival.

"That was crazy," Florida State guard Montay Brandon told the Associated Press. "I thought he had a rebound. I guess it just slipped out of his hand. I don't know how to explain it, but I was just happy.

"At first I was looking around like, did that happen? Then I saw the scoreboard change and I was like, oh man, we're winning. I started going crazy."

Before the win, Florida had won five straight games in the rivalry.
