Pop sensation Selena Gomez ignited uproar this week after snapping a photo flashing her ankle while visiting Abu Dhabi's Grand Mosque.

According to the mosque's official website, a strict dress code that forbids both men and women from exposing their legs is enforced.
Individuals are mandated to wear "long, loose fitting, ankle length trousers or skies for women and men" and "women must wear a headscarf."

The photo showing Gomez expose part of her leg appeared to have been removed from the pop-star's Instagram account. However, some individuals turned to another photo she snapped while at the mosque to condemn her for her actions.
"It's disrespectful ... because in a SACRED PLACE you are not supposed to pose like that," one person wrote.
"This is so f***ing disrespectful to the Muslim religion," another echoed. "She goes there like its a f***ing field trip."
"They are in a mosque, they should show some respect for this religion," another added.
Some, however, defended Gomez.
"I am Muslim and I really don't understand the fuss about this," one person wrote.
"She's with her friends having a good time. Is she not allowed to do that?" another asked.
