He started with a bang and ended with a whimper.

A would-be bank robber in China was foiled by the general public after he smashed his way into a bank, the Independent reported.
Wielding a sledgehammer, the 22-year-old busted his way into the back of the bank, as security camera video shows, but the Independent reported that a bank employee locked up most of the bank's cash before the man could get to it.
Then members of the local community started streaming inside the bank, trapping the man inside — and enabling the police to make a clean arrest.
