Rush Limbaugh Lays Out Race-Based Super Bowl Conspiracy Theory That's Plain Hard to Believe

"This is exactly how liberals think."

There’s apparently a conspiracy theory floating around the Internet regarding the Seattle Seahawks’ questionable final play of the 2015 Super Bowl, which cost them the game. On Tuesday, conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh mocked the race-based theory relentlessly on his show.

The Nation explains the conspiracy theory:

The theory goes something like this. Russell Wilson is your young clean-cut God-fearing media-perfect quarterback. If one was creating a superstar face to market for the twenty-first century, chances are they would look, sound and basically be Russell Wilson. He’s Derek Jeter with a Bible, someone who comes across like he has never spoken out of turn in his entire life.* Marshawn Lynch is… Marshawn Lynch, and if you haven’t figured out what that means after the past two weeks, then you haven’t been paying attention.

The theory goes that there were major financial, public relations and football reasons for Russell Wilson and not Lynch to be the one who ends the game in glory. If he throws that touchdown for the victory, Wilson is almost certainly the Super Bowl MVP. He gets the commercial. He gets to stand with the commissioner. And oh, by the way, he also gets his new contract, one that will fasten his prime, at only 26 years old, to the Seattle franchise. Marshawn Lynch is also due a new contract. Marshawn Lynch, had he punched that ball over the goal line, would probably get to be the one handed the MVP trophy. Marshawn Lynch also maybe gets on the mic to say Lord knows what.

Reacting to the theory, Limbaugh first had to tell his audience, “Folks, this one is actually real.”

“This thing with that stupid, inexplicable call on the last play of the game in the Super Bowl, do you know that that call, do you know that the reason that call was made was because of latent racism on the Seahawks coaching staff? Yeah, I got it right there in The Nation magazine,” Limbaugh said sarcastically. “And, by the way, not just there, it's everywhere where you find lunatic leftists.”

He continued: “Well, why does it make no sense?  Well, I'll explain it if you just sit there and be patient. I'll explain it from the left's perverted thought process, I'll tell you how that call was racist.  The call was racist not to give the ball to Marshawn Lynch and instead give it to Russell Wilson because the Seahawks and Coach Carroll think that Wilson is a much cleaner cut black guy.  He's a more wholesome black guy than Marshawn Lynch. He's not as dark as Marshawn Lynch, liberals do, and they have now said that they got a source in the Seahawks locker room that told them this, an unnamed source.”

Limbaugh went on to claim that “this is exactly how liberals think” and there has to be a “bigoted reason behind everything that they can't explain.”
