Lady Gaga may be the queen of all things new, modern and bizarre — but at the Oscars Sunday night, she wowed the world with a medley of timeless classics from "The Sound of Music."

She sang parts of "My Favorite Things," "Edelweiss," "The Sound of Music" and "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," earning thunderous applause from the audience and an accolade from the most iconic version of the musical's singing nun.
"Thank you Lady Gaga for that wonderful performance," said 79-year-old Julie Andrews, taking the stage after the performance.
Andrews played the part of Maria in the 1965 film version of "The Sound of Music."

Twitter took notice of the performance as well.
