"...a hostile learning environment."
On Tuesday, University of Oklahoma President David Boren expelled two of the students who were filmed singing a racial slur-filled chant in connection with a Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity event.
Boren posted his decision on Twitter, saying the expelled students played a "leadership role" in the chant and helped create a "hostile learning environment."

The racist chant — with the refrain, "There will never be a n***** SAE" — has already caused the national Sigma Alpha Epsilon organization to shut down the University of Oklahoma chapter.
Ahead of Boren's decision, many argued that he does not have the authority to expel the students for what likely falls under protected free speech.
As KOCO-TV noted, the students have until Friday to contest the decision, and the case could wind up in court.
