Veteran California Police Officer Shot, Killed in Line of Duty

A manhunt was underway Tuesday night after a veteran police officer was shot and killed in the line of duty in San Jose, California.

Police confirmed on Twitter that the officer had died after being shot while responding to a call.

Details surrounding the incident were not immediately known. Calls by TheBlaze to the San Jose Police Department were not immediately returned.

One source told Mercury News that officers might have been responding to a call involving a mentally ill subject.

A large police presence was at the scene of the crime as authorities searched for the suspect.
