Police: No Danger at U. of Toledo After Report of Gunman, but Student Union Will Remain Closed Overnight

Police are looking for a suspicious person and also are investigating a possible stabbing.

UPDATE 9:08 p.m. EST: University of Toledo police said there is no danger at this point after a report of a possible gunman, WTVG-TV reported — but a Board of Trustees Chair told the station that the student union will stay closed for the rest of the night for security reasons.

UPDATE 5:18 p.m. EST: No victim or suspect was found in the University of Toledo student union, WTVG reported. Police said the building is cleared of people and officers, the station added, citing a reporter at the scene.

The UT website had an alert posted on its main page at 5:23 p.m.: "Dangerous situation reported near Student Union. Stay away from area. Police on scene now."

Police said a gunman may be in the University of Toledo's student union, WTVG-TV reported, and the building on the main campus of the Ohio college is on lockdown.

Police are looking for a suspicious person and also are investigating a possible stabbing, WTVG reported.

According to a WTVG reporter at the scene, several UT student union workers who were forced from the building heard pops.

There is no word on injuries, the station said.
