Here's Where in the Country You're Most Likely to Become a Victim of Violent Crime
May 07, 2015
Though most of America has been getting safer over time, there are still pockets where one is more likely to be a victim of violent crime than others.
A heat map by FindTheHome using data from the latest FBI Uniform Crime Report shows where the most violent crimes per 100,000 people happen around the country. Violent crimes, it said, includes murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault.
By the Numbers: the Most Dangerous Places in America | FindTheHome
As it would turn out, per capita Alaska has the most violent crimes followed by New Mexico.
FindTheHouse explained that national, state, metropolitan and city crime data are numbers from the FBI while county data is aggregated from both county departments as well as city departments within the county to give a total number of crimes within that region.
"This means the county numbers may NOT directly reflect the numbers reported by the FBI," the site explained of its methodology.
