Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, slammed lawmakers who voted to pass a 20-week abortion ban on Wednesday, saying the bill lacks “compassion” and “respect.”
The U.S. House passed the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would ban abortions after nearly five months, 242-184 on Wednesday, the two-year anniversary of the conviction of infamous abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell.
Richards called the abortion ban “unconstitutional” and alleged it would “hurt women.”
A 20 wk ban would hurt women - & to add insult to injury, the GOP leadership has chosen Women's Health Week to debate it. #StopTheBans #HR36

This ban would put barriers to care in front of rape survivors & eliminate health care options when they're needed most. #StopTheBans #HR36

Put simply: a 20-week abortion ban lacks compassion & it lacks respect. #StopTheBans #HR36

Congress: Defeat this dangerous, misguided bill and focus on moving this country forward - not backward. #StopTheBans #HR36

Grateful for those in Congress who stood with women today.
To those who didn't: The fight is far from over. #HR36 #StopTheBans

As Twitchy noted, Richards' comments had her online critics up in arms. Her take on the 20-week abortion ban was labeled "insane" and "sick."
Why doesn't the 5 month old baby also deserve compassion and respect? @CecileRichards

.@CecileRichards abortion is compassion now? What's next killing old people is compassion too?

I don't even know where to begin with this disgusting tweet. I feel sick. https://t.co/gTh98cObHc

We live in such a twisted world that @cecilerichards would dare to say NOT killing a baby is lacking compassion? This is INSANE.

@NYCanegirl @LilMissPrepper @CecileRichards you're sick if you think a 5 month old unborn baby is just a fetus. How many kids do you have?
