Former White House chef Sam Kass, a key player in first lady Michelle Obama’s nutrition initiative, is joining NBC News as a "senior food analyst."
NBC announced Kass' new role Wednesday. He will cover health eating and wellness, food trends and policy issues, reporting for NBC's "Today" and "NBC Nightly News," as well as having an online column.
Kass served as assistant White House chef from 2009 to 2014, where he was also nutrition policy adviser for President Barack Obama and executive director for the first lady's “Let’s Move!” initiative. He previously worked for the Obamas in Chicago.
Kass joins the company where his wife Alex Wagner already works as an MSNBC personality.
