Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry spoke about the wisdom of hiring veterans during an episode of TheBlaze TV's After Action airing Thursday at 8:00 p.m. ET.
"The military has trained so many of you with extraordinary talents," the former Texas governor said. "Once those individuals left the service, I saw them as great examples of individuals who had particular expertise in areas."
Perry said Texas' fusion center is run by a man with an "extraordinary anti-terrorism background," and today he is "running the fusion center and dealing with the anti-terrorism that we have from the state's perspective."
"I think all too often people go, 'Oh, the military. They're just about guns and airplanes and boats.' But the fact is, these are people who have had amazing managerial positions," Perry said. "Bringing men and women in the military into either government or private sector operations, to me that's an incredibly wise thing to do."
