Whoa' and 'Yikes': Family Reacts Emotionally After Man Shaves for the First Time in 14 Years

"I feel like I’m cheating on you."

An Israeli man who wore a beard for 14 years stunned his family members when he approached each of them after secretly shaving.

It took Mook’s mother, father, twin sister and wife a good few moments to realize the identity of the man with the hairless face who was talking to them.

A video, “My New Face,” showing the transformation was produced by an Israeli pharmacy chain that sells shavers.

"I feel like I’m cheating on you," said Mook's wife Limor. (Image source: YouTube)

His mother and twin sister were rendered practically speechless when they saw Mook after his shave, managing – just barely - to emit only the words “whoa” and “yikes.”

It took almost 15 seconds for his father to recognize him. While Mook posed as a customer in the family knickknack shop, his father walked right past him without a flicker of recognition. Even after asking his father the price of a porcelain bowl, it took a few moments for the father to realize he was talking to his son.

His little daughter was the quickest to recognize him, but even she said he looked like “a different Daddy.”

“I can’t believe this is how you look,” said his wife Limor who had never seen him without a beard.

After kissing him, Limor said, “I feel like I’m cheating on you. This is really strange.”

The Israeli ad agency BBR Saatchi & Saatchi produced the ad for Israel’s Super-Pharm to promote its Life M6 razor blades.

BBR Saatchi & Saatchi’s creative director Nadav Pressman told the Times of Israel that his own father cried after watching the ad which has been viewed more than 3.5 million times on YouTube.
