PHOTOS: Gun Maker Creates New AR-15 'That Would Never Be Able to Be Used by Muslim Terrorists

"I'd like to have a gun that if a Muslim terrorist picked it up a bolt of lightning would hit and knock him dead."

A Florida gun manufacturer has unveiled a new AR-15 assault rifle, complete with a Bible verse that is laser etched into its design — a weapon that "would never be able to be used by Muslim terrorists," according to a company spokesperson.

"Right now and as it has been for quite some time, one of the biggest threats in the world is and remains Islamic terrorism," Spike's Tactical spokesperson Ben Thomas told WTSP-TV in a statement. "We wanted to make sure we built a weapon that would never be able to be used by Muslim terrorists to kill innocent people or advance their radical agenda."

The Tactical Crusader AR-15 assault rifle, which is selling for $1,395, features Psalm 144:1 etched into its design. The verse reads, "Blessed be the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle."

An official description of the Tactical Crusader offers no mention of its apparent inability to be used by "Muslim terrorists."

The rifle also includes the Templar Long Cross, which the Orlando Sentinel reported was a symbol of the Christian Crusades.

Additionally, the Tactical Crusader includes the words "Peace" and "War" on its safety selector, which are the settings for "safe" and "semi-automatic"; the words "God wills it" are also present on the firearm.

Thomas, a former Navy SEAL, said that he crafted the idea of including Christian themes in an effort to preclude radical Muslims from using the rifle.

"Off the cuff I said I'd like to have a gun that if a Muslim terrorist picked it up a bolt of lightning would hit and knock him dead," he said.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations of Florida was quick to speak out against the firearm.

"Is it designed for Christian terrorists?" Hasan Shibly, executive director of the Florida branch of the Islamic civil rights group, rhetorically asked the Sentinel. "We need to have a conversation on gun violence. There has been utter silence from gun manufacturers. It's time for them to stop trying to make a buck on this."

Thomas said that the goal was never to offend anyone, and that the gun is simply a symbol of shared Christian values.
