The people of Kurdistan are fighting for their survival — the Islamic State has swept across the region leaving behind a path of death and destruction.
In August 2014, thousands of Yazidis were stranded on Mount Sinjar in an area near the Syria-Iraq border. They were surrounded by Islamic State fighters and trapped without food and water and desperate for help. With great fanfare, President Barack Obama announced that the United States would immediately intervene and launched a massive humanitarian relief campaign.
One year after the rescue mission at Mount Sinjar, reporter Sara Carter traveled to Kurdistan to for an update. What she discovered was a tragic truth that the American people were never told.
