Cruz Earns Endorsement of Grassroots Taxpayer Group

Praising him for standing against the “Washington cartel,” Ted Cruz has been endorsed by the largest taxpayer watchdog group in the Lone Star State.

“Ted Cruz is a principled, commonsense conservative who has done in Washington precisely what he said he was going to do,” said Michael Quinn Sullivan, the president of Texans for Fiscal Responsibility. “Ted Cruz has taken on the Washington establishment cartel of Democrats and liberal Republicans, unabashedly defending our constitutional liberties by promoting the principles of liberty.”

Texas’ primary election begins with early voting from Tuesday, Feb. 16 through Friday, Feb. 26. Election day is Tuesday, March 1.

The mission of Texans for Fiscal Responsibility (www.Empower Texans.com) is to assist citizens in creating and sustaining a system of strong fiscal stewardship within all levels of government by helping them hold elected officials accountable.

In the 2012 open-seat election for the U.S. Senate, Cruz was not predicted to defeat his wealthy opponent in a multi-candidate primary. Yet Cruz won despite being strongly outspent and roundly attacked by the media and establishment pundits.

“Americans are tired of politicians who worm their way up to the seat of crony power in Washington, DC. People are looking for statesmen who will overturn that table and shine a light in the darkness that has engulfed our nation’s Capitol,” added Sullivan. "Ted Cruz and proven time and again that he isn't beholden to, or intimidated by, the paper tigers in the Washington cartel of influence peddlers and crony corporate subsidizers. As his record demonstrates over and over, Americans can trust Ted Cruz to do what he promises."

In considering the presidential candidates, Texans for Fiscal Responsibility compared the public statements and governing records of the candidates, as well as considered input from the grassroots organization’s subscribers. TFR is the largest grassroots organization in the Lone Star State focused on budget and governance issues.

“Republicans have an embarrassment of riches in this field of GOP presidential candidates, but Ted Cruz has demonstrated an unwavering loyalty to the principles of liberty embodied in our constitution. Texas taxpayers are strongly supporting Ted Cruz, and we’re honored to stand alongside them.”

Texans for Fiscal Responsibility has also endorsed candidates in statewide, judicial and legislative races. The organization also publishes a weekly news digest delivered electronically, as well as a monthly print magazine.
