New CNN Poll Shows Trump Lead GOP Pack in NH, but One Candidate Has Seen a Big Surge to Second

New CNN Poll Shows Trump Lead GOP Pack in NH, but One Candidate Has Seen a Big Surge to Second

Businessman Donald Trump continues to command a firm lead over the GOP field in New Hampshire, but Florida Sen. Marco Rubio has surged to second place with his highest amount of support yet, according to a CNN/WMUR poll released Thursday.

Of the likely Republican voters surveyed from Feb. 2-4, 29 percent said they supported Trump, just down one percent from a similar Jan. 27-30 poll.

Rubio, however, saw a sizable jump. The Florida senator surged past Texas Sen. Ted Cruz to second with 18 percent, up seven points from the last poll.

Cruz, who won the Iowa caucus, placed third with 13 percent of support, up only one point from Jan. 27-30.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich placed fourth with 12 percent, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush fifth with 10 percent and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie tied with former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina at four percent.

The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 6.8 percentage points and had a sample size of 209 likely Republican primary voters.

The New Hampshire primary will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
