Popular Megachurch Pastor Unleashes in 'On the Record' Refusal to Support Donald Trump: 'C'mon Ya'll. We Are Better Than That!
February 18, 2016
"Seriously concerned..."
Megachurch pastor Perry Noble of NewSpring Church in South Carolina made it more than clear in a series of tweets this week that he has no intention of supporting Republican Donald Trump's presidential campaign.
In fact, Noble went as far as to go "on the record" saying that he refuses to endorse Trump, encouraging his more than 155,000 followers to join him in rejecting the businessman's candidacy.
"Going on the record...will NOT endorse/support [Donald Trump] in the SC primary," Noble tweeted on Monday. "Either Rubio, Cruz or Bush!"
While he said that he typically avoids wading into politics, Noble proclaimed that Trump is "NOT the best choice among the current candidates!" and proceeded in yet another tweet to ask South Carolina evangelicals not to support Trump.
"Seriously concerned that @realDonaldTrump may win SC!" he continued. "C'mon y'all - we are better than that!"
Noble, who later said that he's not yet ready to endorse a specific candidate, made his comments just days before the Feb. 20 Republican primary in South Carolina.
Current polls show that Trump is substantially ahead in that state.
