Man and Woman in Car Approached by Would-Be Robbers — Suspect Dies, Victims Survive

Police in Memphis say a 16-year-old boy was fatally shot Wednesday after he allegedly tried to rob a man and woman sitting in a car outside a house.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. after three men approached the vehicle, shooting the man inside the car in his side. But the male victim fired back, hitting the 16-year-old suspect in the chest, WREG-TV reported.

The other two suspects took the teenager to his mother's house and his mother then took him to a hospital. He was transferred to another medical facility but later died.

Police are still searching for the other two suspects.

The male victim is expected to survive, according to WREG-TV.
