Good Soldier' Lewandowski Goes on CNN, Says Only Nice Things After Being Ousted From Trump Campaign

Bash asked Lewandowski what his biggest regret is, and he answered, "none, professionally."

Despite his firing Monday morning, ex-Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski had only nice things to say about his former boss' campaign in subsequent interviews.

Lewandowski remained bullish on the campaign's health in an interview with CNN's Dana Bash, one of his first appearances since the campaign abruptly announced his termination.

The presumptive Republican nominee's campaign is heading in the right direction ahead of the general election, likely against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Lewandowski told Bash. Money is "pouring" into the billionaire businessman's campaign, he added.

"I'm proud of the campaign, I really am," Lewandowski said. "But I also understand the reality of building an infrastructure, coupled with the RNC's 500 people on the ground and all the resources necessary."

When Bash asked Lewandowski what his biggest regret is, he answered, "None, professionally."

Bash called Lewandowski "such a good soldier," pointing out that anyone tuning in and hearing his positive comments "might be thinking that they're on another planet, because you're making it seem like everything was really great."

But Lewandowski didn't bite, continuing to say only that the campaign is "moving in the right direction."

The political operative became part of the 2016 campaign trail news cycle in the spring after he was accused of grabbing former Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields' arm after a press conference in Florida.

In an earlier interview with NBC News, Lewandowski said he didn't know if his firing was "so much" of a surprise. He still plans to serve as chairman of the New Hampshire delegation to the Republican National Convention and also plans to spend more time with his kids.
