Camera Captures Huckabee’s Candid Moment With Officers Protecting the RNC

"Look out for me."

CLEVELAND — Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee shared a personal moment with police officers after leaving the Republican National Convention Monday night, thanking them for putting others' safety before their own.

Upon leaving the Quicken Loans Arena on the first night of the RNC in Cleveland, Huckabee noticed a group of about 15 uniformed law enforcement officers outside the gates and went over to shake their hands.

"Be careful, be safe, look out for me," Huckabee told the officers, before joking: "To heck with the other 50,000 people..."

The former 2016 hopeful then asked the officers if any of them were from the south. A number of law enforcement officials have traveled to Ohio from other states to help protect convention attendees from possible protests and violence.

"If y'all find anywhere to get a good bowl of grits, you let me know," Huckabee said.
