Gene Wilder, Who Played 'Willy Wonka,' Dies at 83

NEW YORK (TheBlaze/AP) -- Gene Wilder, star of 'Willy Wonka' and Mel Brooks comedies, is dead at 83, his family says.

Wilder was best known for his role as Willy Wonka in the 1976 film "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory."
