Ohio Father Finds Note on His Windshield After Breakfast With His Son: ‘We Need More Black Dads Like You’
September 05, 2016
"I'm definitely going to make sure I'm paying it forward."
An Ohio father found a touching note on his windshield after going out to breakfast with his infant son, according to WOIO-TV.
Kevon Smith, Sr. recently took his son, Kevon Jr., to a Cracker Barrel in Willoughby, Ohio. When he returned to his vehicle afterwards, he found a note that said "We need more black dads like you." The note included cash for their meals.
"Today your meal is on my wife and me,” the note added. “Enjoy that baby boy as long as God intends."
"There's a lot of guys I know that aren't taking care of their kids," Smith told WOIO, adding that he lacked a father figure growing up.
He said he was happy "to show that not all of us are out here being gang bangers, some of us are out here being fathers."
Smith said he was touched by the strangers' generosity, and he’ll share the story with his son when he is older.
"I'm definitely going to make sure I'm paying it forward," he said. "I get blessed. I want to bless someone else."
