Rudy Giuliani, who is a top surrogate for Republican nominee Donald Trump, conceded Sunday that Trump was talking about sexually assaulting women in the extremely lewd audio leaked by the Washington Post last Friday.
However, the former New York City mayor said it's not clear if Trump has actually ever sexually assaulted anyone. Giuliani's comments came during an interview with George Stephanopoulos on ABC's "This Week."
"That’s what he’s talking about," Giuliani confirmed to Stephanopoulos after the show host said Trump was talking about "sexual assault" in the leaked audio.
"You know, whether it happened or not, I don’t know, and how much exaggeration was involved in that, I don’t know," Giuliani added. "I do know there’s a tendency on the part of men at different times to exaggerate things like this. I'm not in any way trying to excuse this or condone it — there's no excuse or answer for it."
