Pop singer Miley Cyrus slammed fashion designer Stefano Gabbana of Dolce & Gabbana in a Saturday Instagram post over his conservative family values.
Cyrus's brother, Braison, walked in a Dolce & Gabbana fashion show the same day, and while praising her sibling, she took a shot at Gabbana's politics and conservative views and his dressing of first lady Melania Trump.
In her post, which featured brother Braison, Cyrus lauded her brother's appearance, and as a side note to Gabbana, wrote, "I STRONGLY disagree with your politics…. but I do support your company’s effort to celebrate young artists & give them the platform to shine their light for all to see!”
In a 2015 interview with Italian magazine, Panorama, the designing duo said, "The only family is the traditional one."
“You are born to a mother and a father – or at least that’s how it should be,” they said, noting that IVF is "unnatural," and condemned gay partners for using the method to have children.
In response to Cyrus's comments, Gabbana wrote, “Ignorant!!!” and blacklisted her brother from ever working with the designers again.
“For your stupid comment never more work with him,” Gabbana added.
In a later post, the designer wrote, "We are Italian and we don’t care about politics and mostly neither about the American one! We make dresses and if you think about doing politics with a post it’s simply ignorant. We don’t need your posts or comments so next time please ignore us!!"
Gabbana and Domenico Dolce, who is gay, were in a relationship up until 2005. The two spent 23 years together but never married.
