Former President Barack Obama was known for going on lavish vacations, and now taxpayers know the updated cost of his family's various trips and travels.
According to McClatchy, it was previously known that vacations the Obamas took during their eight years in office cost taxpayers more than $85 million. Their most well-known vacation, the annual Christmas trip to Hawaii, cost taxpayers about $3.5 million, it was reported.
The total includes: The cost of Air Force One and other government planes and helicopters, armored cars, rental cars, medical staff, Secret Service protection and the advance team — plus all of the agents' expenses — among other expenses accrued each time the president travels.
According to government watchdog group Judicial Watch, the total cost of the Obamas' vacations and travel stands at $105,662,975.27. The organization calculated the number through a series of Freedom of Information Act requests. The figure includes:
Judicial Watch also secured the total amount that President Donald Trump has spent on travel so far: $4,082,427.71. Between him and Vice President Mike Pence combined, they have spent $7,560,425.01.
