Crook threatens gas station store worker, acts like he has gun. But clerk, 61, refuses to back down.

A hooded man who entered a South Carolina gas station store and acted as though he was carrying a gun must have taken the store clerk — a 61-year-old — for a pushover.

But the fella behind the counter refused to be a victim.

The clerk told Myrtle Beach police the man came into the store at the Sun Fun Exxon gas station about 1:30 a.m. Friday with his sweatshirt hood draw covering his face, the Sun News reported.

Then the crook pointed his hand — which was covered by a brown paper bag — right at the clerk's head, the paper said.

For what, you may ask? The hooded man wanted two packs of Newport cigarettes, the Sun News reported.

But it was nothing doing.

The clerk told police he “smacked the brown bag and object away from his face and told the suspect to get out of the store,” the paper said, citing a police report.

The victim told authorities he felt something under the bag but couldn’t tell what it was, the Sun News reported, adding that the suspect reacted by quickly leaving the store.

Investigating officers called in a detective and surveillance video was reviewed, the paper said, adding that the investigation is ongoing.
