Adam Schiff wants Sam Nunberg to answer questions - here's what he replied

In the wake of the bizarre interviews of former Trump campaign aide Sam Nunberg Monday, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, is zeroing in on one specific statement made about President Trump.

Here's what Schiff said

CNN's Manu Raju reported that Schiff was focusing on a statement Nunberg made about then-candidate Trump and a controversial meeting between his son and Russians before the election.

"Rep. Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on House Intel, tells us the House panel needs to [interview] Nunberg," Manu tweeted, "saying his assertion that Trump may have known about the Trump Tower meeting before it occurred is an area that the committee needs to explore."

What did Nunberg say about the Russian meeting?

The former Trump campaign aide said that contrary to claims from the White House, Trump knew about the meeting between his son, Donald Trump Jr., and Russians two weeks after he had secured the nomination as the Republican candidate to the presidential election in 2016.

"No," Nunberg said when CNN's Jake Tapper asked him if Trump knew nothing of the meeting. "You know he knew about it. He was talking about it a week before."

“I don’t know why he went around trying to hide it,” he added.

Nunberg responds to Schiff's request

In a later interview, CNN's Erin Burnett, Nunberg responded to the request from Schiff that he testify before the House Intelligence Committee.

"I think it's funny, you know," Nunberg responded, "I like what Roger Stone said about Adam Schiff, 'Schiff is full of Schiff.'"

"I think Adam is trying to run for Senator," he continued. "I think that he's trying to use this. Once again I probably think that the Democrats will end up winning the House [of Representatives], and he'll have a very powerful position."

"Is that a yes or a no?" Burnett pressed him.

"I would go there," he responded. "Sure. I think it would be funny."
