Republican President Donald Trump is "far more liked" than House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) among all Americans, according to KNTV-TV.
Such a declaration might not be a huge shock, except that KNTV is NBC's affiliate in San Francisco — otherwise known as Pelosi's home turf.
Anchor and reporter Scott McGrew noted Pelosi's intention to run for House Speaker if the Democrats win a majority of seats in the midterm elections — but he added that such a move "may not be good news for Democrats" during the Tuesday broadcast, the Washington Free Beacon said.
"Republicans use Pelosi as a cudgel in their ads to convince people not to vote for Democrats, and they're not wrong," McGrew continued. "We might like Nancy Pelosi in the Bay Area, but America doesn't."
McGrew then brought up an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll that noted organizations and individuals who are more popular than Pelosi.
"Things that are more popular than Nancy Pelosi … include the NRA, current [House] Speaker Paul Ryan [R-Wis.], even Donald Trump," McGrew said. "Among all Americans, Donald Trump is far more liked than Nancy Pelosi."
Here's the clip:
Democratic strategist Joel Benenson told MSNBC's Chuck Todd on Wednesday that Pelosi "is not going to be the issue in this campaign going forward."
Benenson instead turned the spotlight on Republicans' performance all across the electoral spectrum as enough of a reason voters have to support Democrats in November.
