CNN's Chris Cillizza identifies the 'sneaky big issue' of the 2022 election and gets slammed with mockery and ridicule

CNN editor-at-large Chris Cillizza faced an onslaught of of mockery and ridicule after he said he had identified a "sneaky big issue" in the 2022 midterm election.

"This could be the new sneaky big issue of the 2022 election," Cillizza tweeted with a link referring to immigration.

"With all the focus of late on inflation and its impact on the coming midterm elections, we may be overlooking another issue gaining traction among the American public: immigration," he wrote.

He went on to describe how polls showed that illegal immigration was increasingly becoming an important issue for voters and that they were unhappy with how Democrats have dealt with the issue.

Cillizza's tweet was hit with the dreaded distinction of being "ratioed" meaning it had many more mocking responses than retweets in support. As of publishing, his tweet had 101 responses and only 34 retweets and three likes.

Many on social media pointed out that immigration had been a prominent plank of the Republican campaign platform under Trump and before him.

"Super under the radar issue that absolutely no one has paid any attention to unless you count the 4 straight years of 'Build that Wall' chants," read one response.

"How in the hell could you be a member of the legacy media and remain unaware of how big an issue the border crisis is?" replied another critic.

"The idiocy of leftist progressive 'journalists' is truly breathtaking in depth and breadth. Apparently cilliza has been living under a rock for the past 15 months," read another response.

"You know that issue everybody but the news media has been talking about for years?" said another detractor. "That's some quality journalism, right there."

"I just love this guy," replied Charles C.W. Cooke of National Review.

Cillizza might have been more informed about the importance of the immigration crisis if he had read the comprehensive coverage of the issue at TheBlaze.
