'Morning Joe' accuses Trump of intentionally inspiring political violence — and being happy about it
February 22, 2019
It could be because Scarborough was on the latest hit list
MSNBC's Joe Scarborough accused President Donald Trump of knowingly encouraging political violence after a report that a U.S. Coast Guard official was caught planning lethal attacks on media and political figures, including Scarborough.
"You know, take his words literally, he knows exactly what he's doing and he's proven that he knows exactly what he's doing," Scarborough said on "Morning Joe."
"And knowing him for eleven years as I have, I'm fairly confident that he is not disturbed by the news report, in fact I know that he is not disturbed by the news reports," he explained.
"He's sees that as a sign of strength and a sign of passionate support that he tries to churn up every day in his Twitter feed," he added, "he tries to churn up every time he calls the media, 'the enemy of the people.'"
"So just to sort of, help explain why you're saying that, so unequivocally," added Mika Brzezinski, "is that we knew him quite well and I remember our conversation with him about the whole birther controversy, and we just told him to cut it out, that it was so stupid, that he should stop.
"And he says, 'I know it's bad, I know it's bad,' and then he turn to Joe and said, 'but it works!'" she continued.
"So winning, more important to him than humanity and goodness," Brzezinski concluded.
