Dan Crenshaw shares information 'everyone in America' should read about Dems killing emergency relief package: ‘They killed it. Out of spite and bitterness.’

He didn't hold back

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) believes that Americans need to be made aware of why Democrats are killing the COVID-19 emergency relief package — and that it all boils down to partisan politics.

The emergency relief package in question would provide money to Americans who are struggling because of the coronavirus, funds to small businesses in order to float payrolls and more, and expand unemployment benefits.

What's the background?

In a lengthy Twitter tirade, Crenshaw, a former Navy SEAL, educated Americans on what's going on in Washington, D.C., amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

Crenshaw said that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) shut down the Senate emergency bill in order to fatten the bill with other non-COVID-19 related business items such as Green New Deal policies.

On Sunday, he wrote, "Democrats torpedoed a bipartisan emergency bill that: -Provides payroll & rent for small business -Credit to businesses across America to keep them afloat – Cash in American's pockets – unemployment benefits. They have no good reasons. Just partisanship. Call your reps NOW."

"Do Dems want a recession? A depression? How can they justify this?" he continued. "This bill is critical for the livelihood of millions. Our country will be devastated without immediate help. Dems can lie all they want about 'helping workers' but now they are destroying their lives."

Crenshaw, who said that he is not a person to "make hyperbolic statements," insisted that Senate Democrats' torpedoing of the bill is "truly awful."

“This bill was negotiated in good faith," he added. "Been monitoring its progress all week. It can save our economy. And they killed it. Out of spite and bitterness. Hold Dems accountable."

Crenshaw later sent a pointed tweet to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), who blamed the bill's failure on ineffective protections.

Schumer said that the Democrats "voted no on the McConnell-GOP bill because among other problems it includes huge bailouts without protections for people and workers and without accountability."

Schumer also insisted that the GOP version of the bill "shortchanges our hospitals and healthcare workers."

“We will not forget this. More businesses are closing tomorrow while you peddle this lie," Crenshaw insisted. "You literally stopped a good bill because it *didn't have enough red tape*. You hate American businesses so much that you would sacrifice our economy out of pure contempt."

So what is the must-read?

A day later, Crenshaw shared a copy of the 1,400 page Pelosi-backed bill, which included new — non-urgent — Democratic provisos such as a U.S. Postal Service bailout, same-day voter registration, a "corporate diversity requirement," and more.

“EVERYONE in America, Democrat and Republican, MUST read this thread," Crenshaw insisted. “This is what Pelosi killed the rescue package for. 'Corporate diversity requirement,' 'Airline carbon emissions,' and the list goes on."

"Hold these people accountable," he concluded. "They are holding America hostage."

Journalist Rachel Bovard shared the original tweet, captioning it, "Pelosi's #COVID19 bill is 1,119 pages and contains provisions for 'conducting risk-limiting audits of results of elections' so yeah it's really very focused on the crisis at hand."

According to the thread, other items included "elimination of USPS debt," "corporate board diversity," "early voting," "same day registration," "federal employee and collective bargaining and official time," a "carbon offsetting program," improved consumer access to flight-related greenhouse gas emission reports, an expansion of "minority banks and minority credit unions," "diversity [and] inclusion initiatives," a whopping $35 million for the Kennedy Center, and more.
