'Don't Run Joe': Progressive ad pleads with Biden not to run in 2024

A campaign called "Don't Run Joe" is making waves after left-wing group RootsAction published a statewide New Hampshire ad pleading with President Biden not to run for reelection in 2024.

The ad shows a variety of voters concerned that Biden's approval ratings and likelihood of defeating Republicans like Donald Trump or Ron Desantis are both very low. Others express his unwillingness to properly push a progressive agenda forward.

“We can’t afford to lose the White House to a Republican who could defeat status-quo Joe,” says one of the voters.

“It’s absolutely critical that we don’t allow a Republican to win the White House in 2024,” another adds.

From in front of a mansion, another voter says that "the threat of the GOP has become all too obvious; the stakes could not be higher."

A CNBC poll in December 2022 showed that 61% of respondents did not want Trump to run for a second term; however even more were against another Biden administration, with 70% rejecting another bid from the big guy. 37% of Republicans said no to Trump 2024, while a majority of Democrats (57%) are saying "don't run Joe."

The ad will run during the evening news as well as during broadcasts of "Jimmy Kimmel Live," according to the Daily Caller, likely to capitalize on the progressive late-night audience.

More voters in the New Hampshire ad point to Biden's failures on progressive talking points, saying that "there's no question we have a climate emergency; it's a question of willingness to do something about it."

"It's not the time for half measures," pleads another man. "Americans needs universal health care now," he explains.

"There's no room for compromise when our abortion rights are on the line," exclaims another woman.

Co-founder of RootsAction Jeff Cohen says the ads will "soon be expanding to other early primary states.”

“We don’t have a horse in this race. If we can persuade Biden not to run again, that could clear a path for a progressive candidate with broad appeal who can defeat the GOP in November 2024,” Cohen said in a statement to the Daily Caller.

Cohen says the group is looking for "a bold and articulate progressive populist" who will address issues such as "widening economic inequality, increasing corporate power and greed (including Big Tech), [and the] climate meltdown.”

RootsAction describes itself as "dedicated to galvanizing people" and is running other campaigns concurrently, such as "Tell Congress to Pass the College for All Act" and "Stand Up for Ilhan Omar."
