Former Marine faces probation after threatening to attack Las Vegas mall, grenade launcher and armor-piercing rounds found in condo

A former member of the United States Marine Corps has agreed to plead guilty to coercion after he threatened to attack a Las Vegas mall where his ex-girlfriend worked, according to KNTV Las Vegas.

According to an arrest report, the Marine named Jeremy Schumacher allegedly sent his ex-girlfriend a series of text messages that included a photo of a heavily damaged door in his apartment, along with text such as "I'm coming for you."

The man reportedly threatened that he would attack the Fashion Show Mall on the Las Vegas strip where the woman worked and kill her before killing himself.

Counterterrorism detectives were reportedly able to substantiate many of the woman's claims, including that Schumacher abused alcohol, used cocaine, and had recently been suicidal.

As well, when a counterterrorism team went to Schumacher's condo, they found an AR-15 with grenade launcher, armor-piercing bullets, flash-bangs, smoke generators, and high-capacity magazines.

Schumacher has reportedly agreed to plead guilty as part of a plea agreement. He was previously arrested and charged with making a false threat regarding an act of terrorism in December 2022.

Schumacher's agreement appears to set him up with 36 months of probation on the condition of completing a Veterans Affairs residential treatment program. Part of the probation requires him to stay away from his ex-girlfriend and not to possess or have access to any weapons.

According to previous reports, Schumacher has had several prior arrests for firearm possession and a separate threat.

As well, recently released FBI documents regarding the Las Vegas shooting of 2017 suggest that the shooter might have been motivated by his animosity against casinos.

Heavily redacted documents include numerous interviews with witnesses who knew the 64-year-old man who shot and killed 60 people at the Route 91 Harvest Festival on Oct. 1, 2017.

One person claimed the terrorist was a "prolific video poker player" who lost $38,000 on a trip to Las Vegas the month prior to the act of terror.
