High-ranking TSA official arrested for allegedly exploiting family member with dementia

A high-ranking official with the Transportation Security Administration was recently arrested for an outstanding warrant, according to Fox News Digital. TSA Assistant Federal Security Director Maxine McManaman was taken into custody in Atlanta by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection on December 28.

McManaman had a warrant issued for her arrest by the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office in Florida. The warrant suggested she and an accomplice, Delroy Chambers, had exploited a relative suffering from dementia by falsifying documents in their name.

Details of the warrant were posted to Facebook by the St. Lucie Police Department, which stated: "U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Atlanta detained Maxine McManaman, the Assistant Federal Security Director of Transportation Security Administration (TSA), after arriving from an international flight on December 28th, 2023."

"She was later arrested on a PSLPD arrest warrant for one count of Forgery, a third-degree felony. She is currently detained at the Clayton County Jail in Georgia awaiting extradition to St. Lucie County."

The investigation was kicked off in April after the police reportedly received a call from someone who wanted to report elder abuse. The name of the individual who made the call was not revealed.

The authorities in Florida claim that McManaman and Chambers forged signatures on a quitclaim deed, thereby transferring ownership of a property in a relative's name over to themselves, according to NBC News. The relative whose property was transferred to the duo could not have signed the quitclaim deed, since the individual was found to have been in Atlanta during the date listed.

Chambers was arrested and charged on December 20 with two counts of exploitation of an elderly and disabled adult, simple neglect, and two counts of forgery, per Fox News Digital. However, Chambers has denied the allegations, saying "[i]t's a family thing."

Additionally, McManaman is facing a third-degree felony charge of forgery.

McManaman has worked for TSA since 2002 and held a management position at the airport.

A TSA spokesperson said that it "holds its employees to the highest professional and ethical standards and has no tolerance for misconduct on or off duty."

The spokesperson went on to say that "[a]ny employee who fails to meet our fundamental ethical standards is held accountable."

McManaman has been placed on leave pending an investigation by the authorities. She is currently being held in Clayton County Jail in Jonesboro, Georgia.
